Ch Ch Ch Changes

So many new experiences to talk about in one post...

Thursday night was my first Tech night game. Thanks to Steven and Linda, I got to experience it in style - homebrew (a porter no less), spinich & crab dib, great seats (right where the twerps quarterback got knocked out - ouch), rowdy fan section - you name it! The weather was warm - we played a little frisbee before the game. Afterward I met up with some of my "crew" downtown to celebrate the victory. That led to another first...

First time eating at Five Guys. Great burger joint out of the DC area - go hungry and with a big group. Joel had warned us about the size of the burgers, however, he neglected to warn us about the fries. A regular order of fries comes in a lunch bag - full of fries. A large comes in basically a grocery bag full of fries. Two of us ordered the regular, and one the large. Seven of us couldn't even finish the two regular orders. The large order was completely wasted...

Friday was my last day with the client that I've been with for almost 4 years. I'm really going to miss the people there and the motivation that they've provided (career and fitness).

Over the weekend we visited my sister-in-law in Maryland. They have a pool which has not yet been drained. So, after celebrating Thanksgiving Saturday, many of us decide to join the polar bear club and take a swim in the 50 degree water (another 1st). The incentive was that they also have a hot tub that we could jump into afterward. Well, I jumped in with my kids and my neice and nephew and then ran for the hot tub. Unfortunately, it had been turned up too hot and we couldn't even stick a toe in it - it was more like a giant lobster pot. We spent about 20 munites adding water from a hose until it cooled down enough for us to get in. The kids ended up going back and forth between the hot tub and the pool for about an hour - I just stayed in the hot tub. Next time I'll make sure the water is warm, but not too warm before I jump in the freezing pool...

Sunday I ran my first trail race with my brother-in-law and nephew. The race directors said before-hand that the course conditions were the worst they had ever seen. They had blown all the leaves off the trail, but it was muddy and there were a number of trees down across it. Between the mud, rocks, hills, trees, roots, etc. you had to be pretty careful. There also wasn't much space for passing anywhere along the train. Despite all of that, I had fun. I definitely didn't get a 5K PR, but I did place in the top half of the finishers! Most impressive were some little kids (5-7 year olds) that I saw do this race - it was challenging.

And finally, today (actually yesterday at this point) I set up my first wireless network! I'm free to go anywhere in or around my house and surf! Way cool, even if I'm not...
